If you like strenuous hikes, this is where to start. The Wyeth campground trailhead is the beginning of a 4000 elevation gain hike to North Lake. It is not recommended for the out-of-shape individual.
Not crazy busy, well kept and bathrooms and water spigots.
Downside is the highway is very close and is very busy and noisy.
Wyeth is a small campground just outside Hood River. Campsite 1 & 2 are first come first serve. The others can be reserved online. All the sites are spectacular and nicely placed for privacy. No hook ups. Plenty of shade. 4g. Clean bathrooms. Nice hosts.
Awesome and clean campground, camp host was extremely friendly and nice. Brought us a map straight to our campground, explained the trails around and behind the campground and this led us to a breathtaking 100 plus or so foot waterfall! Definately would stay here again.
Only reason for 4 stars is no showers. But then it wouldn't be so quiet. We had reservations to spend 3 days in the tent sites at Ainsworth State Park. Just say no! Horrible hike up in the trees and that was a handicap spot. Cold, barely level. We stayed in Wyeth instead about two sites from the back of the bathroom can't remember the number. Large site, not too many bugs really nice and helpful camp hosts. Far enough away from the noise but we wore ear plugs. The birds in the morning can sometimes be noisy! Wyeth is more set back off the road than Ainsworth. There are some falls a short hike away at Wyeth. We were close enough to Multnomah Falls and other things we wanted to see. My husband loved it. They do have flush toilets.
